Make Room for Faith to Work

Get in the game!

I am so grateful as a Christ follower that Jesus met me in the midst of some of my darkest moments in life. I can remember receiving Him and thinking how excited I was just to NOT be going to hell anymore! I also remember the moment when I realized I was living a restless Christian life. It was because this gift of salvation inside me, and faith that was developing and growing within me, HAD to be put to work. Something in me was stirring, and I realized that just “saying” I was a Christian, reading my Bible, and going through the usual “Christian” motions, wasn’t enough. God had work for me to do. The truth is, our faith is meant to be active and exciting. God has an exhilarating work for all of us to do. What are you passionate about? How can you get in the game and begin to live out your faith in such a way that has an impact on your family, in your workplace, and in your community?

Today’s Scripture

"14-17 Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?" - James 2:14-17 MSG

Tip from Jed

Works don’t produce our salvation; our salvation produces our works. A faith that is expressed is a faith that is exciting.

Study Suggestions

Read James 2:14-17. Pray and ask God where your faith may be lifeless. Ask God to show you where your faith needs to come alive and see where this exciting, active faith God has designed for all of us will lead you.
