Make Room to Apply God’s Will

Having to put ourselves in a particular position that is according to God’s Word is a great challenge, but only if we don’t want to apply His will. Just like what happened to Jonah, who was a man that knew God in an unprecedented way, and a man that had the opportunity to talk to God! He practically dared to argue with God! He was always trying to do things his own way! We can see that our own ways are not enough; and coming from this point of view, we face a wall of discouragement and frustration. We end up prosecuted by our own insecurities and not our true desires and dreams. We may think, “I’m not running away from God,” but the facts are more real than words. God is not planning to push us away, and He’s not even thinking about hurting our hearts, but yes, He wants us to determine if we will change our thinking pattern … to Make Room for Him.

Today’s Scripture

The Lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.” 3 But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord by sailing to Tarshish. - Jonah 1:1-3 NLT

Tip from Moises

Stop pampering your insecurities and leave aside any justification that keeps you from doing what you know is right. Wanting will never change things as much as letting God’s will take over your life.

Study Suggestions

Look, for a moment, at Jonah’s life … he knew that running away from God wasn’t the best alternative; particularly because of everything he caused around him. Read Jonah 1:6. Jonah was asleep, acting like there was no problem. Verse 12 shows that he knows he’s responsible for their circumstances.

God confronted Jonah in Chapter 3:1. Instructions are clear for him; he obeyed but kept acting selfish (Jonah 4:2-3).

Does God’s desire about Jonah’s life make you think about letting Him work in you and trust His will?
