Recently I found myself giving up. Not something most of us want to admit publicly but still it’s the truth. I was tired of walking in circles with my struggles. I threw myself on my bed and told God, “I quit! I’m done trying to fix this! I’m done fighting!” God’s comforting response to me was, “FINALLY!” We see surrender as defeat, but God doesn’t! God sees surrender as FREEDOM! Surrender means to cease resistance; when we give up being our own source of strength, comfort, wisdom, and freedom. We are then able to cease resisting God as our source and receive His purpose and plan for life with all the strength, comfort, wisdom, and freedom that goes with it.
Today’s Scripture
"But He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me." - 2 Corinthians 12:9 (AMP)

Tip from Yolanda
The hardest part of surrender is believing it is okay to not be able to fix something. Freedom comes when we are able to give ourselves permission to not be the source of our solution, and instead allow God to be our source.
Study Suggestions
Sarah had a hard time letting go of her own knowledge and control in order to allow God’s plan and blessing to take place in her life. When she finally surrendered, the promise came to pass. Read Genesis 18 – Genesis 21. What are some of the consequences you have encountered by not surrendering? What area(s) do you need to step out in courage and surrender to the Lord?
