Someday...

In my life, there has been more hurt and pain than I can begin to describe. The harm and depression that I have experienced have been due to circumstances out of my control, as well as poor decisions that I’ve made. In the midst of it all, I can say that there was little to no understanding as to why I was experiencing the challenges and honest feelings of abandonment by God.

When my life came to a boiling point, and I found myself lying on the cold ground in Oklahoma City after four searing bullets ripped through my body, I knew that my life was going to be different. After receiving a 47-year prison sentence, Jesus came into my life in such a way that relieved all questions about His goodness and undying love for me.

As I began to walk with Jesus and share my personal story and pain, His power and love began to transform me and my perspective on life. I realized that all things indeed work together for good for those that are called according to His purpose. All of the hurt and pain that I had experienced, now submitted to His Lordship, was being utilized to help bring healing to others who were experiencing similar pain!

My challenge for you today is to pray and ask God to help you embrace the pain that you may have experienced in your life. Through prayer, submit that pain to Him and ask Him, "Father, please allow this hurt that I've experienced to help heal others that You place in my life."

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12:11 (NIV)
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Take some time daily, maybe as you take a walk outside or find yourself working on a puzzle, to meditate on these scriptures. God’s Word will revive those places of pain and hurt to the place of health and wholeness for His glory.
