I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE
In a world where we are accustomed to things being performance based, many of us live our lives from that position when it comes to our relationship with Christ. We are often quick to disqualify ourselves from the blessings of God, much less an intimate relationship with Him, because we know every bad thing we have ever done. The life we have lived and the choices we have made are the road signs that we use to mark our path to a distant relationship with God. Therefore, we think we must strive everyday to earn our way to a place where we are acceptable in God’s eyes.
I remember one day when I was praying, I said to God, “God, I’m so glad you loved me when I was unlovable.” God’s response to me, in my spirit, was something that changed the way I saw Him forever. God’s response was this, “I have no idea what you are talking about. You see, there has never been a day, and there will never be a day, when you are unlovable.”
When we can begin to understand that God’s love for us began before the foundations of the world and will continue throughout eternity, it will begin to change how we see ourselves. God loves us because we are created in His image, out of the love in His heart. Nothing we do can cause God to love us more or make Him love us less. Having this confidence, we can let down the barriers that keep us from fully entering into His presence and celebrating His love for us -- just the way we are.
SCRIPTURES
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (NASB)
“The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” — Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38,39
PRAYER
Father,
I choose today to anchor into Your Word, which is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Help me today to keep my eyes focused on the truth of Your Word.
I confess that I am more than a conqueror through Your Son and through Your Holy Spirit. I ask for Your hedge of protection around our kids and teens today; that no weapon formed against them will prosper, but that Your Word shows them the truth of who they are in You.
I pray for Your continual blessing and leading over the Victory Staff; that they hear Your voice, and the voice of another, they do not follow.
In Jesus’ name I pray...Amen.
